Air Cooling Unit by Yakul Air Cooling Unit by Yakul
created for our current game project which proceeds really splendidly! I can hardly wait for the next semester to begin even though this one isn't actually over yet :)

Please share your thoughts and let me know which parts need improvement!

Pretty well done. The beams on the bottom look like they might have less uv space then the rest of the object, or it's stretching. There are parts that can re-use the same texture space. For example the four vents(?) on the side that are indented could be the same but rotated or mirrored, and I would recommend adding geometry for each square instead of having it float like it is now. The black of it lacks some detail in the texture. Scratches where it would be opened and closed a bunch of times, and also some Light leaking rust below the vents.

thank you for the feedback, 'tis much appreciated!
To be honest, the vents that do not have extra geometry came into my mind when everything else was done and when I noticed that the sides were lacking detail. I'm aware this shouldn't happen... Shame on me!
Well, sadly, I didn't have a concept for this at all, so I needed to be creative and original which can be hard at times, you know ;) But I'm learning and hope to get better and more creative in the future, especially when a concept is missing...

In short: for presentation purposes only. A lot of detail on the metal stripes would get lost by resizing the maps. At the moment they are about 5-6 pixels in width which would decrease to half and impair the normalmap a lot. But really, this is detail... you would probably never come near enough to view the difference. If you're interested, I'd show you a pic with texs half the size!

Sure, here you go: [link]
As you will notice, this looks already a bit fuzzy even if it is not yet close-up. Also keep in mind the dimensions of the object in the later game engine. A character (which has at least 2048^2px texture) is A LOT smaller than this object, so one would have to decide if it's worth taking the bigger resolution here. In the end, however, it is the end consumer's hardware that matters...
